Response & Prevention Group
Response & Prevention Group is comprised of four distinct Directorates that manage the operational programs of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Response Directorate
The Response Directorate supports Auxiliary members and assets participating in Surface, Aviation, and Telecommunication missions, on behalf of the US Coast Guard.
Toward that goal, the Response Directorate will identify the response needs of the Coast Guard, during normal and accelerated operational tempos, and develop relevant competencies to provide a safe, robust and capable volunteer contingent as a part of Coast Guard Forces.
Prevention Directorate
The Auxiliary’s Prevention Directorate is responsible for the planning and administration of Auxiliary programs to support and augment the U.S. Coast Guard’s Prevention missions. As such, we assist and augment the Coast Guard’s vital role to ensure the safety and environmental protection of our nation’s precious waterway resources. As America’s Volunteer Lifesavers, we are committed to being dedicated, vigilant and ready to engage this mission on behalf of our fellow citizens.
Emergency Management and Disaster Response Directorate
The Emergency Management and Disaster Response Directorate is responsible for administering Auxiliary preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation of natural and man-made disasters. We assist in the training and qualification of members who wish to work in the field, manage and support deployed personnel, develop training materials, plan response drills, and provide emergency response resources. The Auxiliary performs these roles via emergency management professionals at District and National staff levels.
International Affairs Directorate
The International Affairs I-Directorate is composed of two distinct, but closely related, teams: the International Outreach and the Interpreter Corps teams. The mission of the International Outreach Division is to enhance the safety of the Global Maritime Community through outreach and engagement with international partners. The Interpreter Corps provides foreign language interpretation and translation services to the active duty US Coast Guard and other US government agencies using the Auxiliary Interpreter Corps (AIC). The AIC is developed and maintained by the Qualifications Division. All global assignments to missions are managed by the Deployment Division. The Area Command Liaison Division helps connect USCG units outside the continental USA (OCONUS) for linguist services, as well as any other USCG Auxiliary augmentation resources.
